The local branch of Home-Start, a national family support charity, received a donation of £2,000 from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Hemel Hempstead.
Home-Start in Hertfordshire provides life-changing support for local families when they face challenging times.
The charity works with vulnerable families in Hertfordshire, providing practical aid and emotional support through a series of initiatives including dedicated Family mentors and a one-to-one intensive programme of support.
The staff and volunteers at Home-Start used the donation to pay for a special Christmas party for the local families supported by the charity.
This is the third time that Amazon in Hemel Hempstead has supported Home-Start. To mark this year’s donation, several members of the Amazon team visited the charity’s headquarters in Stevenage to meet the volunteers and learn about the great work they continue to do in the community.
Amazon’s Hemel Hempstead site leader, David Tindal, said: “We’re happy to lend a helping hand to Home-Start once again. The charity is a lifeline for families in our community during times of need. The Amazon team really enjoyed meeting the staff and volunteers from Home-Start Hertfordshire and we’re pleased to support an important cause.”
Maggie Charles, operations manager from Home-Start Hertfordshire, added: “It’s wonderful to get a donation from Amazon again this year. David and his team continue to support us in our efforts to provide a vital service to families across Hertfordshire and to know that a local business, like Amazon is behind us is really encouraging. I’d like to say thank you to David and the Amazon team for helping us continue to support local vulnerable families in times of need.”
The ongoing support of Home-Start forms part of the ‘Amazon in the Community’ programme whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.
