A much-loved local gem in Rickmansworth achieved Arts Council England’s Accredited Museum status.
This accreditation confirms that Three Rivers Museum meets national standards for governance, collections care, and public engagement.
Museum chairman Fabian Hiscock praised the dedicated team, stating: “This is a fine recognition of the hard work of the Trustees and volunteers of our small museum over many years. It’s taken us a while, but we started with strong foundations laid nearly forty years ago.”
Founded in Basing House in 1987, the museum is known as a welcoming, well-run, free public resource, celebrating the area’s rich history. While always operating to a high standard, it had not formally applied for accreditation until now.
Fabian added this achievement was possible due to “a good core team, excellent local contacts, and good support from the Hertfordshire and regional museum development teams as well as Three Rivers District Council”.
Located on Rickmansworth High Street, the museum is open Wednesday to Friday from 2pm to 4pm and Saturdays from 10am to 2pm. More information at trmt.org.uk.
