A member of the team from Berkhamsted Football Club has raised more than £2,000 for charity after taking on a charity walk in memory of his cousin.

Robson O’Reardon, who is head of media at Berkhamsted FC, walked 25km from Luton to Broadwater Stadium in Berkhamsted on April 16, for charity Solving Kids Cancer in memory of Ollie Sweeney.

Ollie, who sadly passed away in July last year after he was diagnosed with a neuroblastoma in 2019, was loved amongst the community with several residents stepping up to fundraise on his behalf.

Known for loving a high five the community was quick to rally around the High Five For Ollie campaign.

Speaking to BerkhamstedNews, Robson said he was extremely proud to be honouring Ollie’s memory by supporting the charity.

He said: “Ollie Sweeney was my cousin and his memory I want to continue fundraising for Solving Kids Cancer.

“Berkhamsted FC were playing a game against Harlow so I decided to walk from Luton to Berkhamsted, a distance of 25km.

“On the day we raised more than £900 which went quite a way towards the target of £2,500 for the London Marathon.”

Berkhamsted FC also took to Twitter to congratulate Robson and his partner on the walk and thanked the Harlow FC fans who donated.

Robson is currently in training for the London Marathon on October 2, which he will take on in Ollie’s memory and raise vital funds for the charity.
