Kings Langley Cricket Club (KLCC) marked a significant and special occasion on Friday, December 5, as the legendary Henry “Blowers” Blofeld visited.
The evening admirably launched the club’s build-up to its 200th anniversary in 2030, and 60 guests enjoyed a masterclass in captivating storytelling from one of cricket’s most iconic voices.
Blofeld recounted Ashes battles, 45 years behind the Test Match Special microphone, and the very heartbeat of village cricket.
He recalled being once tipped as the season’s most exciting young talent before a life-changing bus accident.
That twist of fate led him to the commentary box, where his wit and wisdom became the treasured soundtrack of English summers.
From Geoffrey Boycott quips to James Bond tales, nothing was off-limits as Henry kept the crowd chuckling.
Deeply impressed by KLCC’s spirit, he vowed to return in summer 2026 to watch some club action.
Listen out for that unmistakable “my dear old thing” drifting across the boundary. A big thank you went to Dallings for delivering a meal worthy of a century stand.
