HELPING OUT: Chorleywood resident collects items for NHS staff

Published on: 14th January 2021   |   By: Amneet Kaur   |   Category: Uncategorized

Chorleywood resident Catherine Nice is working with RAISE The West Hertfordshire Hospital Charity and collecting items for the NHS staff to help during the pandemic.

Since she started collecting, on January 10, she has been inundated with items and several carloads have already gone off to the West Hertfordshire Hospitals and Northwick Park.

Speaking to ChorleywoodNews, Catherine revealed what pushed her to help.

She said: “What pushed me to do this was the fact that my son and I contracted coronavirus over Christmas. Fortunately, we had it mildly and recovered at home. Also 11 years ago I lost my dad to bacterial pneumonia.

“He spent five weeks in the ICU Department at Northwick Park. I saw first-hand the tireless, painstaking work the ICU professionals undertake and the genuine respect and care they have for their patients.

“Our ICU teams, hospital staff, community teams and local GP practices are all working long hours coping with the impact of the pandemic. My son and I wanted to say thank you. All the people in the local community who have been donating very generously need to be thanked. The way they have stepped up has been phenomenal.”

If you wish to donate contact Freya Hollingsworth, fundraising officer at RAISE on freya.hollingsworth@nhs.net for collection point details.
