A fitness centre in Ruislip is joining leisure centres, sports facilities, pools and gyms across the country to give free temporary memberships to Ukrainian refugees.
The Highgrove Pool and Fitness Centre is one of 280 leisure centres owned by health company Better to be taking part in the nationwide scheme.
Eligible for all people who were living in Ukraine prior to January 2022, as well as any other international refugees or those granted asylum by the UK government, those who take part in the initiative can get either a fixed three-month health centre membership or a lesson/course membership.
These memberships are completely free and are open to people of all ages, adult or child.
In order to sign up, Better will need to see proof of eligibility as well. This can include a Ukrainian Family Scheme visa, a letter from the Home Office confirming refugee or asylum status or proof of application from the UK government as a Ukrainian refugee.
