HELP OUT: Abbots Langley residents appeal to community after beloved mascot stolen

Published on: 11th October 2022   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

Abbots Langley residents are calling on the village community for help after their mascot was stolen from their road.

The residents of Follett Drive have for several nows, decorated a bike and street sign on their road, becoming a symbol of optimism and raising money for several charities.

Featured alongside the bike was the street’s mascot Murdock who was unfortunately stolen on September 11. Now the residents are appealing for help in tracing Murdock.

One of the residents said: “The residents of a Follett Drive, Abbots Langley are very upset as their mascot, Murdock, was stolen on Sunday, September 11, from his post by our adopted bike.  He has become such a feature for everyone who passes by, especially all the children.  Many people have asked us where he is and that they miss him in his many disguises.  We have enjoyed decorating him for several occasions, including Halloween, Christmas, St George’s Day, supporting Ukraine and, as shown in this photograph, advertising the 40th Anniversary of the Abbots Langley Tough Ten Races.

“Please, if you have any information as to where Murdock might be, contact any resident of Follett Drive, by whatever method suits you best, e.g. Facebook, an anonymous note through a resident’s door etc.  We would be so grateful to have him returned to his rightful place.  You will make all the children (and adults!) extremely happy, especially if we can decorate him for Christmas this year.”
