A former cancer patient from Garston decided to shave her head to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Angie Beaumont, 50, of Kimpton Place was diagnosed with cancer in 2019, now she is cancer free and has raised £2,500 for the charity.

Speaking to GarstonNews, she said: “I had to have radiotherapy four 12 weeks and I have been put on tablets for five years.

“I didn’t want to raise money just for breast cancer, so I decided to donate to Cancer Research UK.”

Angie said she was overwhelmed by people’s support as her initial target was of just £500.

She continued: “I had no clue people would be so supportive. It’s all thanks to my friends and family and I would like to thank them. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without them.

“On the day, I had my close family with me and, my son Joe Fox shaved my head while we were live on Facebook.

“It feels fantastic to be cancer free, I feel like I am more confident now and I have been given a second chance in life. I had other family members who had cancer and sadly they did not make it, so I feel like I’m one of the lucky ones and I want to make the most of it.”
