A local group of volunteers are continuing to help clear up and revitalise Northwood Recreation Ground.
Last month, several members of the Friends of Northwood Recreation Ground (FNRG) made their way down to the fields on Chestnut Avenue, armed with litter pickers and garden tools and accompanied by some furry friends.
Together, the gardeners removed weeds from the ponds, planted wildflowers, cut back tree branches encroaching on footpaths, and picked up litter.
They also made an exciting new discovery, having found that the meadow’s ponds are now populated with newts and a type of dragonfly that is considered a critically endangered species.
Ben Rawson-Jones, founder and organiser of FNRG, said: “Well done to Dragana from Hillingdon Council, John Choopani, John Inman, Jan, Suz, Graham, Jackie, Debbie, Steve, Andrew, Neil and Krishna for their amazing efforts!
“Another event to improve our park is to be announced shortly – please get involved if you can!”
