Northwood and Northwood Hills Residents’ Associations have come together to plant the tree they were donated as part of the celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
The tree was taken from the Tree of Trees, a giant sculpture made up of 350 trees designed by Thomas Heatherwick and organised by the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative.
After the sculpture was dismantled, the trees were gifted to organisations across the UK, including the two residents’ associations.
The groups came together for the ceremonial planting of the tree at Northwood Recreation Ground on January 17.
The ceremony was performed by Deputy Mayor of Hillingdon councillor Shehryar Ahmad-Wallana, with committee members from Northwood and Northwood Hills Residents’ Associations and Hillingdon’s Open Spaces team in attendance.
Both groups wanted to express their thanks to Northwood Football Club, who served hot refreshments following the ceremony.
