Members of a Croxley Green Taekwondo Club excelled at an open championship competition last week walking away with two gold and three silver medals.
Rusty Taekwondo Club took part in the London Open 2022 Championships at the Eric Liddell Sports Centre on Sunday, May 15 and impressed the judges with their taekwondo abilities.
Rusty Taekwondo Club coach, Russell Lesser told CroxleyNews: “It was an early start for the eight youngsters, every single child was absolutely amazing. They all put so much effort into it, as their coach I was so proud of every one of them, all competing in a full contact sport takes a lot of courage. Each and every one of them encouraged each other and it was lovely to see this from such young athletes.
“The five Tenants of Taekwondo are Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-control and Indomitable spirit, the children had it all. A massive thank you to the parents for their support on the day, as a coach it is great to hear all the parents screaming and shouting for their children and the rest of the team.
“We came home with three silvers and two golds and team members who were competing against much higher-ranking belts than themselves and being so close to medalling. Our family-based Taekwondo Club is one that prides itself on discipline, teaching taekwondo but having fun too. I could not ask for better students.”
Eliya Sandilands, Luke Roe, Shay Sonoo, Isaac Webb, Aarav Khakhria, Rae Thompson, Ethan Ventura and Hayden Bishop all showed excellent skill during the competition.
Rusty Taekwondo also run adults only training sessions on Fridays at 7pm at The Croxley Green Scout Hut for any adults wishing to keep fit and learn some basic taekwondo techniques.
