Northwood United Synagogue’s annual Chanukah candle-lighting ceremony was a success last month with many different guests from the area attending.
The council chamber was reportedly packed with numerous members of the synagogue, as well as over 50 invited guests.
Newly elected MP for South West Hertfordshire, Gagan Mohindra, was present at the ceremony, which was also his first public event since the election on December 12, along with numerous councillors, police officers and representatives of local resident’s associations.
The service was led by Rabbi Aron Zerbib, and synagogue members Sherrie Ralton and Karen Golanski also lit candles.
Cllr Debbie Morris, who was the co-organiser of the event with Shul chairman Alan Moss, said that the ceremony is improving year on year.
She added: “I’m delighted to see that our public Chanukah candle-lighting ceremony continues to go from strength to strength.
“It’s attracting people of many faiths from across Hertfordshire and Hillingdon, and also of none.
“I have to give a special thanks to Three Rivers Council for their hospitality and warm welcome.”
