A new building worth £12million and home to 10 state-of-the-art science labs has been unveiled at a school in Northwood.
Northwood College for Girls has unveiled The Alvarium building, which has been around seven years in the making with plans dating back to 2015.
The building is geared towards STEM subjects and was unveiled by staff accompanied by Dr Jess Wade, a highly respected equality campaigner who has uploaded more than 1,700 biographies to Wikipedia. All of which highlight women, people of colour and LGBTQ+ scientists and engineers.
Speaking about the building, head of Northwood College for Girls Mrs Rebecca Brown said: “From the very beginning of the project, I envisaged a beautiful space that would inspire and engage young minds and imaginations every day. I wanted a light, bright, contemporary building that our girls would be proud to see as their own haven, and where their love and curiosity of science will be constantly ignited and nourished to grow and flourish.”
