A group of friends from Kings Langley have completed their mammoth charity challenge cycling from Coventry back to the village.
The group of friends, calling themselves Team Ska cycled over 90 miles from Coventry to finish at Kings Langley Carnival on September 18.
Dave Ballard, Russell Knights, Lee Bishop, David Dunham, Dan Radmore, Bob Best and Antony Adair completed the challenge to raise money for mental health charity Mind.
The group chose the charity after their friend and Dave’s brother, Carl Ballard, sadly took his life a couple of years ago.
Bob Best spoke to KINGSnews about how the challenge went.
He said: “It was hard work. It depends where you are on the canal and how good the towpaths are. Bear Grylls wouldn’t have done it,
“The really nice thing was that it was in support of Carl, his brother rode with us as well and it was really good for us to be with him.”
Cycling around 30 miles a day the team were greeted in style as they arrived at Kings Langley Carnival on The Common at around lunch time.
Bob said: “It was great, we got a great reception. We are still counting but have at least raised over £4 and a half thousand for Mind.
“We want to thank everyone for their support.”
The group’s fundraising mission was carried out under the brand of One Pedal Beyond which Bob said the group will continue to promote with future events.
