‘GOOD FEELING’: Singer announces next chapter after successful year

A Hemel Hempstead-born singer is hoping to reach new heights after an incredible year of producing music, touring internationally, and performing on historic stages.

Last May, Jarki Monno, aka Mark Johnson, experienced “one of the highlights of my life” after he performed on the BBC Music Introducing Stage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Luton. The stage has been a stepping stone for artists such as Raye and Ed Sheeran.

Speaking to HEMELnews, Jarki said: “Standing on that stage, looking out to a mass of people, it gives you the reassurance that you’re doing the right thing.”

His successes didn’t stop there. In November, the rising star played his first debut European shows, with his highlight being two nights in Stockholm.

Jarki continued: “It was amazing! It all comes back to this crazy idea that I’m just this lad from Hemel who set out to do something that he loved.”

In December, the singer performed his cover of Mistletoe and Wine on BBC One, an experience he said was “surreal”.

Jarki continued: “To see your face on prime-time TV is pretty bizarre!”

Last month, he headlined his first show since 2022 and is currently working on a mystery project that he is keeping tight-lipped about.

Jarki hopes 2025 will continue to be as successful, explaining that he’s a “big manifester” and has “a good feeling about this year”.

He said: “I’m really excited for this new venture. It’s a lot more introspective compared to my other work. If at least one person resonates with it, then that’s a job well done!”
