Aylett Nurseries in St Albans has installed £180,000 worth of solar panels as part of their promise to champion sustainability.
The garden centre secured a loan from Lloyds Bank to install the 465 panels earlier this year, which now cover 30 per cent of the centre’s annual electricity consumption. Aylett Nurseries has previously invested in electric vehicle (EV) chargers for customers and LED lighting throughout the site.
Aylett Nurseries told STALBANSnews: “We are committed to lowering our carbon footprint and becoming more sustainable; it is crucial for our growth and important to our customers.
“As gardeners, we understand the importance of helping protect the environment and want to do all we can to make a difference. With our forward-thinking mindset, we have had both solar panels and EV charging installed in the garden centre last year, as well as other practices behind the scene on the nursery to enable us to be more sustainable and energy efficient.”
