It is no surprise that the success of the Lionesses over the last few years has inspired young girls across the country, and Hemel Hempstead footballer Emily Fraser is no different.
Emily took up football two years ago after the Lionesses won the 2022 UEFA European Women’s Championship.
Her dad Jamie explained that the pair approached Hemel Aces FC, where he is a coach, and Emily was offered a spot on the team after six months of introductory sessions.
Speaking to HEMELnews, Jamie said: “She’s crazy and bonkers! So full of beans and does everything at 100mph.”
Emily has spent the last season at Brentford FC while playing for Evergreen’s boys’ team. She has also been given a spot on the Dacorum District Girls’ Team.
Now, the young centre midfielder has been offered the chance of a lifetime – a spot in the Emerging Talent Centre U11 team at Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur.
Jamie continued: “As a Spurs fan, seeing her in a Tottenham kit has been a lifelong dream of mine. Emily’s a mad Spurs fan too, so it’s just amazing.
“For her, it’s about the experience, and she’s loving every minute of it!”
The proud dad reflected on the growth of women’s football, particularly within Hemel Aces.
He said: “When we started at Hemel Aces, we had about five kids, and now we have around 100 players. Beforehand, you would never mix boys and girls, but now it’s become the most developing part of the game, and the boys and girls play together all the time!”
Emily added: “Football is my favourite thing to do. I am living my dream.”
