It’s been a glittering year for pupils at a Croxley-based dance academy, who have pirouetted their way to national glory after a season of outstanding performances.
A total of 43 dancers from the competition squad at Moonglow Dance Academy, based at Rickmansworth School, earned places at the prestigious Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing Grand Finals Day, held in Guildford on October 11 and 12.
Competing against more than 1,000 dancers from around 40 schools nationwide, the Moonglow team returned home with an impressive 46 trophies, including two national champion titles.
Six-year-old Ivy Lindsay was crowned under 6 rock ‘n’ roll national champion, while eight-year-old Pearl Tyas took the title of under 8 street dance national champion.
Zoë Avis, principal of Moonglow Dance Academy, said: “We are so proud of every single one of our dancers. The standard at nationals is exceptionally high, and these results are a real testament to their dedication, passion and teamwork.”
Founded in 1974 by world and Olympic champions Ernie and Myra Chatt, Moonglow has been inspiring generations of dancers for over four decades.
Now based at Rickmansworth School, the academy continues to flourish under the leadership of its former pupil and current principal Zoë, offering lessons to more than 200 students every Saturday across a range of styles.
