FUTURE FOUNDATIONS: Have your say on proposals for future of historic building in Croxley

Published on: 10th July 2025   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

The future of the Red Cross building in Croxley has been a discussion between councils for a long while, and now they are asking residents to share their views.

Plans to demolish the building on Barton Way to construct new offices and affordable apartments – with a community hall on the ground floor – will be on show at a public engagement event at Croxley Green Library from 3pm to 6pm on Monday, July 14.

Croxley Green Parish Council (CGPC) will also host a display of the proposals at its offices for the following two weeks from Tuesday, July 15. Members of the public are invited to view the designs during council office opening hours.

In an agreement with Three Rivers District Council (TRDC), the new building will be occupied and managed by CGPC. The first and second floors will provide up to eight social rental apartments for local families.

Councillor Stephen Giles-Medhurst, Leader of TRDC, said: “This is an opportunity for residents, and anyone interested to come and review our proposals, and to give us their feedback. I am delighted to be working so closely with CGPC on this, and I think we have come up with a solution that can really be considered a win for all involved.”

Councillor David Tobin, chair of CGPC, said: “We hope that as many residents as possible will take the opportunity to view the proposals and make their comments.”

The proposals are still subject to planning permission and the conclusion of detailed discussions regarding the scheme’s financial and operational implications for both councils.

Following the public engagement event and receipt of all feedback, the councils intend to submit a full planning application by the end of July/August.
