A local boy has been raising money to save his favourite animal, the pangolin, as the species continues to be threatened by extinction.

Quin, 9, was desperate to do something to help the species so decided to hold a bake sale near his house on Saturday, September 12.

So far Quin has raised almost £200 which will help him to sponsor six pangolins.

His mum, Sacha said: “He set up the Important Society for the Protection of Pangolins (ISPP) at his school.

“He is so passionate, and he is a real fact finder and loves anything to do with the natural world.”

Sacha added that Quin was overwhelmed with how many people attended the bake sale.

She said: “He couldn’t believe how many people turned up. His eyeballs were popping out of his head.

“At the end he couldn’t wait to count the money to see how many pangolins he had saved.”
