FRIENDLY FACES: Abbots Langley Knit & Natter group encourages new members to join

Published on: 15th September 2024   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

Members of a social knitting group in Abbots Langley are calling for more people to join their cosy coterie of friendly faces.

The Abbots Langley Knit & Natter group has around 10 to 15 regular attendees of varying ages.

As well as offering the chance to meet new people and create hand-crafted items, the group also takes part in various charity initiatives. This has included sewing hats for premature babies at hospitals, making jumpers to send off to Malawi, and creating teddies for children in hospital to bring them comfort.

Megan Turner, the group’s youngest member at age 31, told Abbots News: “We would love to encourage more ladies and gentlemen to join us.

“Our most hilarious member of the group, Chris, didn’t know how to knit at all when she joined and now she can. So, it’s welcome to all skill levels. You don’t even need to come and knit! You can bring any craft.”

The group meets from 10am to 12pm on the first and third Tuesday of every month at Abbots Langley Library. If you’re interested in taking part, simply come along.
