People in Three Rivers will be able to park for free in council-owned car parks during the coronavirus pandemic.
All parking charges have been suspended until further notice and there will be no on-street enforcement of permit bays in the controlled residential parking zones.
Safety restrictions marked by yellow lines and disabled blue badge bays will continue to be enforced.
It is important that residents park considerately and do not block access for emergency vehicles.
Double yellow lines are still being enforced to stop any dangerous parking and to keep the traffic flowing.
These measures will be kept under review over the coming weeks.
Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst, Lead member for Member for Transport & Economic Development said: “We are continuing to make appropriate adjustments to our services. We hope this action further helps our key workers and local communities. Yellow lines, loading bay and disabled parking will still be enforced.
“Can I please urge with residents staying at home, to try to park sensibly to ensure the emergency services and delivery companies can get to vulnerable people. If vehicles are double parked carrying out deliveries, please be patient.
“We continue to face exceptional challenges at present. We all need to play a role in responding to these challenges and do all we can do to tackle them.”
