Northwood Hills artist and author Jaquie Feldman has recently published a children’s book which has been 25 years in the making.
Inspired by her children’s drawings, Jaquie first came up with the idea over two decades ago, but it was the COVID-19 lockdown which propelled her to finish the book. Nee Nee Moo – A Time Traveller was published last month.
Asked what got Jaquie into writing, she told NORTHWOOD&RUISLIPnews: “I was tutoring mixed media art and freelancing for museums, which all shut down over COVID-19.
“I had nothing else to do and a lot of time on my hands. I thought I’m going to make something of this and I’m going to develop an illustrated story around these characters.”
The Moo family evolved when Jaquie played games with her two children, then aged four and nine, whereby they entertained themselves by creating several Moo characters spanning into a Moo dimension.
It was this imagination which led to the family designing T-shirts, cushions, and paintings all featuring the unique characters.
As Jaquie’s children grew up, the rough manuscript of the book sat under the bed for all those years.
Now that the book has been published, Jaquie’s hope is for all children and parents to enjoy and explore the Moo dimension.
