Wealdstone now lead the Vanarama National League South by seven points, after they held on to win 2-1 against Slough Town on New Year’s Day.
The Stones got off to the perfect start after they went ahead within two minutes of the game kicking off when Mitchee Efete broke free and managed to drive his strike past the goalkeeper.
Jack Jebb linked up well with Efete just moments later, but he was denied by Turner in goal this time.
Harry Isted was brought into action in the Wealdstone goal on the 28th minute when Lee Togwell saw his deflected shot parried well by the Stones number one.
Ross Lafayette doubled Wealdstone’s advantage on the half hour mark when Okimo squared the ball to him, and he then beat his man to slot the ball home past Turner.
The home side dominated proceedings and continued the good performance into the second half when Lafayette could have got a second goal, but his powerful shot went too high.
Slough Town did manage to get one back in the 81st minute through Ryan Bird, leaving the final ten minutes or so to be extremely tense.
The away side’s goalkeeper Turner came up for a corner in the closing minutes of the game to set up a incredible ending to the match, and ended up connecting with the cross, but it was never troubling the Wealdstone goal.
The Stones are back in action this weekend with a trip to Oxford City on Saturday and will look to make it three wins a row.
