FINISH LINE: Rickmansworth friends raise £10,000 by walking 150-miles from Birmingham to London

Published on: 23rd May 2021   |   By: Lizzie Ellis   |   Category: Uncategorized

Two Rickmansworth men have today (Sunday, May 23) completed the mammoth task of walking from Birmingham to London along the canal, raising over £10,000 for Sarcoma UK.

Best friends Dean Horwood and Jack Singleton began their journey on May 15 in Birmingham and over the week headed back on foot, passing through Rickmansworth and finishing in Camden on May 23.

The pair trekked through rain and mud with broken boots in bright yellow sunflower costumes, putting a smile on the faces of everyone they passed.

Dean said: “A big shout out to every single person who sponsored us and everyone we met along the way. We have smashed our target and raised money and awareness for Sarcoma.”

The friends decided to fundraise for Sarcoma UK after Dean sadly lost his wife Michelle to the rare form of cancer sarcoma last year. Originally, they set a target of £5,000 and have more than doubled their goal since completing their 150-mile walk.
