The founder of Canons Park parkrun has stepped down from his role as co-event director of the group after nearly nine years.
In a post on Facebook announcing Chris Parkinson-Best’s departure on Monday, March 3, Canons Park parkrun said: “This was not an easy decision for Chris, who describes setting up our parkrun as one of his proudest achievements.
“Luckily, you’ll still see him around at Canons Park, supporting when he can.”
After his final run director shift on Saturday, March 8, runners and volunteers gathered for tea, coffee and cake in the park to celebrate Chris’ contribution to the event.
A comment on the post confirming Chris would be stepping down from his parkrun role said: “Well done, Chris, you did a great job. Wish you luck for the future. Thank you for all your hard work.”
The group also confirmed that current co-event director and regular run director Shama would be taking charge of Chris’ role to ensure the weekly event continues to run smoothly.
