Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) has announced new funding to accelerate the process of approving and implementing its new Local Plan.
The decision comes after a six-week public consultation. Residents of the district will now have the chance to have a final say on the proposals before they are submitted to the government’s inspectorate in September.
This latest draft of the plan will guide development in Chorleywood and the wider Three Rivers district for the next 17 years, with a total of 4,852 new dwellings to be built within this time period.
At a meeting on Monday, March 11, TRDC agreed to sign off the plan at a special meeting which will take place in September. This will then be followed by a final six-week public consultation. To make sure the new deadlines are met, TRDC has committed funding of £73,110 for the process.
Deputy council leader councillor Stephen Giles-Medhurst said: “We have pushed ahead with a shortened timescale to submit the final plan by March 2025 so we can protect our area from excessive development.”
