Staff from a finance firm in Hemel Hempstead are raising money for a much-loved figure in the workplace and community.
Scott Patmore has been working in finance his whole life, and every step of the way, his mentor, friend and ally David Laffar has stood alongside him. Scott met David when he was just 18 and described him as a “fantastic fella” and “a ray of sunshine”.
The now retired David was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer in March. A long-withstanding sports enthusiast, David is determined to see Sid (his youngest of seven grandchildren) grow up, so he can teach him football and golf.
Scott will be walking 100 miles over the course of October to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
He said: “David laughed when I told him what I was doing. You just feel so helpless, but at least this way we can make some small contribution, and he knows we’re all thinking about him.”
Scott will be joined in his fundraising efforts by his colleagues at Scala Financial Services.
