The sixth Bushey Performing Arts Festival showcased talented members of the local community in front of a packed audience.
The new Mayor of Hertsmere, councillor Richard Butler, opened the festival at Mary Forsdyke Garden on Sunday, June 9.
The event, which comprises eight stages and a variety of stalls, played host to different groups and performers including singer-songwriters, Bushey Jazz Quartet, a steel band, a teen classical pianist, Watford Philharmonic Society, Drama Spectrum, a juggler and more.
Founder and organiser Raymond Coffer runs the festival on an “extremely small” budget as attendance is free.
Raymond said: “We’re different to all the other local festivals. It is a cultural and community event. We charge stall holders a small amount and receive a small council grant, but we don’t want a sponsor – it isn’t a commercial event.
“We have not had a single negative response – it was just fantastic. The feedback from the artists and stall holders has been brilliant – the pizza van had sold out by the end of the day!”
