FAB FUNDRAISING: Berkhamsted Rotary get behind three important charities

Published on: 9th June 2020   |   By: Jake Levison   |   Category: Uncategorized

Berkhamsted Rotary are supporting three local charities who are continuing to help local people in need.

The Rotary have set up a JustGiving page for all local people, with all funds raised going to DENS, Open Door and DCT.

A spokesman for the Rotary explained: “When lockdown started, it was clear that vulnerable people in Berkhamsted would need support while it lasts. Rotary salutes the many generous people who have stepped up to help in different ways.

“Meanwhile the established local charities are working harder than ever to meet the surging appeals for help, and they need more funds to meet the growing demand. We’re supporting DENS, Open Door and DCT, who between them do so much for Berkhamsted people in need.

“For example, DENS Foodbank has already provided 148 people in Berkhamsted with food parcels this year, and Open Door has cooked 1,000 hot meals since lockdown.

“As Rotary members can’t meet in lockdown, we now have a voluntary scheme for giving part of what we’d each spend at meetings to a new COVID-19 Relief fund instead. It was such a good idea that we’ve opened it up to anyone who wants to donate. The funds will be donated as they come in.”
