A resident who shared their sadness at the state of Amersham Hill Cricket Club has received a wave of local support.
Lindsay Penn took to Facebook to call for the regeneration of the cricket club. She shared images of the clubhouse featuring overgrown grass, worn signage, and litter. The post received more than 100 likes and 37 comments.
She wrote: “I think it’s possible but I need support from the local community and information how to go ahead. People from Amersham must realise sport being played within the local community is an important thing!”
Lindsay explained that she and the We Don’t Like Cricket We Love It group will collaborate to create a fundraiser for the revival of the club.
She added: “It hurt me to see the state of the ground the other day but I know I have the capability to get this project done.”
One user commented: “Used to watch cricket there as a kid in the 60s. So sad to see the state of what was a lovely ground. Happy to donate.”
