The racing commentator John Hunt and his daughter Amy have spoken of their “devastation” following the triple crossbow killing at their family home in Bushey.
John Hunt’s wife and Amy’s mother Carol, 61, and his daughters and her sisters, Hannah, 28, and Louise, 25, were killed at their home in Bushey on Tuesday evening.
The suspect, Louise’s former boyfriend Kyle Clifford, 26, was found with what were believed to be self-inflicted injuries in a cemetery near his home in Enfield the following day. He was taken to hospital and was arrested on Thursday evening on suspicion of three offences of murder.
Today, John and Amy Hunt issued a joint statement through Hertfordshire police: “The devastation that we are experiencing cannot be put into words.
“We would like to thank people for their kind messages and for the support we have received in recent days. These have provided great comfort to us for which we are very grateful.
“As you can imagine, this is an extremely difficult time for us, and we need time and space to come to terms with what has happened and start the grieving process. While this is happening, we would ask that our privacy and that of our wider family and relations be respected at this time. Thank you.”
The family have expressed their wish not to be contacted by the media and stated they will not be accepting requests for interview or further comment. Any further statements on behalf of the family will be released at a time of their choosing via Hertfordshire Constabulary.
