‘EXTRAORDINARY DAY’: Kings Langley community comes together to celebrate marvellous carnival

Published on: 30th June 2025   |   By: Ellie Rose   |   Category: Uncategorized

Many villages hold carnivals, but no place does it quite like Kings Langley.

Crowds flooded to the Common for this year’s Kings Langley Carnival on Saturday, June 21, which featured a variety of food, goods, games, and activities.

With 79 stalls and 17 food pitches offering an astounding range of goods and food, the carnival celebrates the unique businesses and organisations on our doorstep.

Elsewhere, there was Soak the Estate Agent, the Scouting Village, the Baptist Church’s tea and cake marquee, the Bennetts End Scouts BBQ, Beat the Goalie, a local fire engine, and a whole lot more.

Sadly, due to the heat, the ever-popular Dog Show was cancelled, but the Hemel Hempstead and District Ringcraft Club are looking to run another event for the village’s pooches on a future date.

Particularly welcome was the presence of Hertfordshire Police who, as a stall holder, offered support and advice on a variety of topics.

As ever, the carnival-goers’ attention was drawn to the acts who took to the stage to showcase their singing and dancing talents.

Kings Langley School kicked things off, followed by Revelation Majorettes, the delightful Kings Langley Primary School, and Salsa Tropicana.

Fresh from their stint on Britain’s Got Talent, Electric Umbrella gave a fantastic performance that got all the crowd involved.

Catching up with KINGSnews after the event, chairman of the carnival committee Carol Chandler said: “We are always keen to encourage local performers, and this year was no exception.

“There are a huge number of talented people in Kings Langley and the surrounding areas. Every year, we find it a marvellous opportunity to get them all on the stage on carnival afternoon.”

Alan Johnson, member of the carnival committee, shared: “It was an extraordinary day, with special thanks going to those working tirelessly behind the scenes to make the day successful, including the organising committee, the Half Hour Heroes, Midshires Search and Rescue, Rotary, Kings Langley Cricket Club and Kings Langley Parish Council.”

Thanks also went to the businesses and people who were sponsors and community partners of the event.

Plans for next year’s event on Saturday, June 27, 2026, have already begun and the committee would welcome any and all suggestions from the community or offers to help. You can contact the team at www.kingslangleycarnival.com

Also, if you are associated with a local charity, group, or good cause that could benefit some additional funds, visit the website above for details of how to apply for a donation. Applications close on Monday, September 1.
