A bronze medal-winning Paralympian has teamed up with Sustainable Amersham to play her part in helping the area be more environmentally friendly.
Mari Durward-Akhurst, who won a bronze medal in the individual freestyle test grade I at the Paris 2024 Olympics, told AMERSHAMnews that she decided to join the project after attending a talk from White Griffin Ltd, who help fight climate change in the equestrian world.
She said: “Since returning from Paris, I have decided to help causes close to my heart and one of these is sustainability. I train in nature every day and want to do my part to support nature and all the amazing wildlife.
“I really appreciate that we need to do as much as we can now, otherwise we are not going to be able to do the sport we love as equestrians.
“It’s early days but I met Anne and Nikki [founders of Sustainable Amersham] last week and we have lots of exciting plans in the pipeline. I am excited to be working with such an amazing group to help to spread the sustainable way and to share their amazing work.”
