Luisa Bradshaw, also known as Tina Carter from EastEnders, will be bringing ecstatic dance to Chorleywood.
The actress is excited to announce the launch of the event which will be held at Chorleywood War Memorial Hall on Sunday October 31, and once a month after that.
The first event will be free to enter despite being ticketed, tickets for the other events will be available on Eventbrite.
Luisa, speaking to CHORLEYWOODnews explained what an ecstatic dance event is, she said: “It’s quite big in London, so I’m really excited to bring it to my area.
“You go inside in the room, you don’t talk, there’s no alcohol, drugs or shoes. We stand around in a circle and they bring around sacred cacao, which is raw chocolate grown in a ceremonial way. When they bring it out everybody gets their cup of hot chocolate.
“There’s a ceremony where people say an intention. Then the music starts to play, I DJ the music. It’s loads of different influences from world music, new age, Latin, funk, house. The music starts really chilled and then it just gradually builds up. The cacao really opens up your heart and lets you let go of your inhibitions.
“By the time of the peak of it everyone’s just throwing themselves around the room, dancing however they like, there is no style! And you definitely don’t need to be able to dance!”
Luisa explained that the event usually has around 50 to 150 people attending and it is a mixed crowd. She said: “There are three different types of people that come: people that miss their clubbing days, people that want a high vibrational spiritual practice and people that just want to go to the best aerobics class in the country, because you really sweat there.
“I really want to bring this high vibrational energy to my local area. With COVID-19, we really need that self-care, self-love at the moment and I couldn’t think of a better way to spread that.”
