Every goal vital, says Hornets boss

Watford head coach Slavisa Jokanovic described their win over Reading as “not an easy afternoon” despite easing to a 4-1 win.

Goals from Almen Abdi, Matej Vydra, Troy Deeney and Fernando Forestieri gave the Hornets a comfortable victory over the Royals. Jokanovic said: “We had a fantastic start, a goal after one minute, but by half-time I felt we needed to fix things a little bit. “I must be pleased with the performance overall and what is important is another three points. We scored four goals and we could have scored some more so I am happy with the three points. “But there were moments we had little problems which we tried to fix. “This is football; you cannot play 90 minutes without an opponent presenting you with some challenges. An easy game does exist in this division. It wasn’t an easy afternoon.” The emphasis on importance for every goal, let alone every win, is not lost on the Hornets’ boss with the automatic promotion picture still amazingly tight at the top of the Sky Bet Championship. “Every goal is doubly important now, this is the situation. We accept this situation and we must concentrate and focus on it. “The end of the season is a long way off,” he warned. “The team is motivated. They are clear in what they must do and this is to look only at the next match.” The Hornets had plenty of chances to add to the four goals they scored, although Jokanovic acknowledged it wasn’t all one-way traffic. “We had to fix some problems in the second half. Reading showed their personality to score one goal and give us things to think about. “So we changed the personnel again and we were more comfortable as well as scoring one more goal. “This is how football is. You must see what is happening, try to fix things, and then look again to make sure what is happening is what you planned. “It is not possible to say that this is our team and we can only play in one style. “What is important is that we find the way to win every match. Reading? Now this is history. “ Picture courtesy of Alan Cozzi
