EVERETT ROVERS: Garston football club unveils new kitchen thanks to investment programme

Garston-based Everett Rovers Football Club have proudly unveiled their new kitchen facilities as part of a £3million investment programme to improve clubhouse facilities.

Everett Rovers FC were named as one of 450 clubs across the UK to benefit from the Howdens Game Changer Programme. The initiative was launched last year to support grassroots football with improved clubhouse facilities and to bring local communities closer together.

Everett Rovers were selected from hundreds of applicants seeking Howdens and England Football’s support.

Located on Dodd Road, the club’s new kitchen was unveiled on Friday, May 10.

David Preedy, vice chairman at Everett Rovers, said: “The club was founded in 1997. In 2016, we managed to secure a 30-year lease on the land and built a clubhouse that opened in 2018. Despite having limited funds to fit the kitchen out, we were determined to provide a communal space for our community. Therefore, through fundraising and events over the past four to five years, we’ve slowly been buying mix and match cupboards and tables to keep us running.

“The newly fitted Howdens kitchen is going to give us a full working kitchen to allow us to serve locals. The finished kitchen is something the club and its users can be proud of.”

The Howdens Game Changer programme was launched in 2023 by football legends Jill Scott MBE and Chris Kamara MBE. The pair lent their support by stressing the importance of grassroots football and clubhouse facilities on their own careers.
