Watersmeet announced at the beginning of the month that they are bidding farewell to the Friends of Watersmeet Film Society as they screened their last film on November 14.
The film society has been a big supporter of Watersmeet over the years and has made significant contributions to the venue and community screenings at Watersmeet.
The society have hired Watersmeet regularly to screen films and host events, contributed towards the purchase of the digital cinema equipment in 2012 and has also funded 50 per cent of the new cinema screen, which is due to be installed in January 2020.
A spokesperson on behalf on the Three Rivers District Council and Watersmeet said: “We would like to thank the Film Society for everything it has done for the venue and the community.
“We are especially grateful to the Film Society’s committee and past committees for their dedication and hard work.”
However, the Film Society have confirmed this is not the end of films at Watersmeet as Filmsmeet will continue to screen a great selection of film titles and live theatre screenings on a regular basis, in fact they are set to show more films in 2020 than ever before.
