This month’s historical photo features a St Albans City FC football match at their home ground of Clarence Park, taken on April 6, 1982.
Back then, the club played in the Isthmian League Division One, now part of the seventh and eighth tiers of the English football pyramid.
Clarence Park was formerly the base for a team named St Albans Amateurs FC. The club disbanded in 1904 and reformed as St Albans City FC four years later.
The first football match at Clarence Park took place on September 22, 1894, and the site has served as St Albans City FC’s home ever since.
Do you have any historical photos of St Albans City FC, or of the city? If so, please send them to us at newsdesk@mynewsmag.co.uk and they could feature in a future edition of the magazine.
