Sara Trollope, a hospital matron who worked at Hillingdon Hospital, has sadly died at Watford General Hospital after suffering with coronavirus.
The 51-year-old had a 33-year career at the NHS but is now one of the reported 21 health workers to have died from the disease.
Friends of Sara have set up a fundraising page to support her family at this difficult time.
On the fundraising page, Sara is described as a ‘devoted wife’ for caring for her husband, Gary, after he suffered life-changing injuries whilst serving in the army, which meant he was unable to return to work.
The fundraising page says: “This wonderful woman only ever wanted to become a nurse, she fulfilled this desire and worked hard, gaining her promotions to eventually become a matron at Hillingdon Hospital, she was in fact in her last year of nursing before retiring.
“Sara cared very much about her patients and staff, and completely loved her job. Sadly it was this job that cost her, her life.
“She fought this bravely for seven days until it became to much for her, and she passed away peacefully.”
Sara leaves behind her husband, children and grandchildren.
The GoFundMe page has raised over £5,000, and you can donate to the cause here gofundme.com/f/rip-sara-dee-trollope-nhs-nurse?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link-tip&utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet
