‘DETERMINATION AND COURAGE’: Cancer patient reunited with family thanks to Northwood based hospice team

Published on: 29th December 2025   |   By: Naomi Greenaway   |   Category: Uncategorized

Christmas is an important time of year for many people, but for one family, the festive season was even more special thanks to the dedication of a local hospice.

Earlier this year, 43-year-old Arman was treated at Michael Sobell Hospice in Northwood after he was diagnosed with advanced cancer.

From the moment he arrived, he expressed a clear wish to return home to Tehran to be with his wife and daughter for the final weeks of his life.

Working to deliver his wish, the hospice team came together, connected with Arman’s family abroad, identified someone who could accompany him home, and arranged emergency travel documentation.

In the following days, the team stabilised Arman’s condition with pain management and emotional support, as well as following medical coordination.

Just eight days after arriving at the hospice, Arman travelled safely to Tehran. He was met with an ambulance on arrival before he was reunited with his wife and daughter, an emotional moment for all involved.

Speaking to NORTHWOOD&RUISLIPnews, a spokesperson for the hospice said: “This was a high-risk journey, but Arman’s determination and courage inspired us all to make it happen.

“Although his time is short, Arman’s spirit has been lifted by reconnecting with his family, and our team continues to stay in touch with his care providers to ensure he remains comfortable and supported.

“Arman’s story is a testament to the dedication and creativity of the hospice team, who work tirelessly to make each person’s wishes possible, no matter how complex or challenging.”
