On occasions where there may be a waiting period for an ambulance, reaching a defibrillator may be the difference between life and death.
Garston residents can find defibrillators available for public use in the following areas.
> Watford Leisure Centre Woodside, Horseshoe Lane, Watford, WD25 7HH: The defibrillator is located on the side of the security building and is accessible at all times of day.
> All Aboard charity shop, Colne Way Court, 10 Colne Way, Watford, WD24 7NE: A defibrillator can be accessed by the front door intercom between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
> Waterdale Recycling Centre, St Albans Road, Watford, WD25 0PR: This is one of the defibrillators recently installed at 16 recycling centres in the county.
> Garston Fire Station, 530 St Albans Road, Watford, WD24 7RX: The fire engine at Garston Fire Station carries a defibrillator which is available for use 24/7.
> Chemilab Pharmacy, 103 North Approach, Watford, WD25 0EL: The defibrillator is situated on the outside wall of the pharmacy and is available for use 24/7.
> Nisa, 150 Haines Way, Leavesden, Watford, WD25 7QX: Councillor Tim Williams recently approved a defibrillator in the Woodside Stanborough division, which can be found outside the Nisa shop.
The one at Nisa, 150 Haines way was in fact planned after the one outside Chemilab Pharmacy was finally completed I know this because I was the first to raise this about having a Defib in Stanborough after a holiday trip to Holywell in Cornwall after passing through a little village of Cubert in which they had a Defib machine in an old telephone box then questioned Cllrs as to why a larger area of Stanborough never had considered one.
There is also a new one at Garston Manor allotments further up from Woodside Leisure Centre…opp Louvian Way & Newhouse Crescent
