Releasing a debut song at 16 may seem like a daunting task, but for Tring Park School student Zane Hart, it’s been in the pipeline for years.
Singer-songwriter Zane explained that he has always enjoyed singing and fondly remembers writing his first song at age 11, entitled Perfect for Me, about a girl he had met.
The teen’s first single, Falling, was released on Wednesday, November 20. Zane has often used his musical skills as a coping mechanism when dealing with negative comments from others, and this new track is inspired by the struggles of coming out of the COVID-19 lockdown.
Talking to Tring news, Zane said: “I stopped writing during lockdown. I was in a bad mental state. Being trapped inside when you’re young is really hard. But when I moved to Tring Park School, I opened my eyes to being social again.
“That’s when I wrote the song Falling. It’s about coming out of it and realising that there are good things in life. It’s an example of what it feels like to get better.”
Zane has been inspired by the likes of Billy Joel, explaining that he would watch his intimate concerts where he would break down his songwriting process.
When asked how it felt to release such a personal single, the young singer said: “If you asked me that years ago, I’d say no one is getting into my personal life! But I feel comfortable talking about it now. For boys in general, it is never really spoken about.
“But I want the message to be that things do get better, and things take time. It doesn’t happen overnight, but with time, everything does get better.”
