High flyers Berkhamsted FC showed why they are number one in the Southern League Division table by dismantling Biggleswade FC away from home today (November 9).

It was a slow start but The Comrades took the early lead in the 30th minute with midfielder Josh Chamberlain slotting home from close range.

The Comrades were 0-1 up as half time came about, but their best was yet to come.

Striker Jonathan Lacey doubled their lead minutes after the second half began which was followed shortly by another goal by striker Lewis Toomey.

Within minutes, central defender Ryan Kinnane got his name on the scoresheet and put Berko FC 0-4 up.

The Comrades were running riot at the Carlsberg Stadium in Bedfordshire as they grabbed their fifth and final goal, scored by midfielder Lee Stobbs.

The opposition, who are currently ranked 12th in the table, said on Twitter: “A comprehensive defeat, but sometimes you have to just hold your hands up and say the better team won.

“By far the best team we’ve played and they showed why they are up the top.”

Berkhamsted FC are set to play St Neots Town FC next week at home on November 16.
