A member of Sainsbury’s security staff ended up on the floor after an incident in the Stanmore supermarket.
At around 5pm on Saturday, August 29, security staff at the supermarket approached two men who had been witnessed stealing items from the store.
After staff approached the two men, they became angry and one security guard was left on the ground after the altercation.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called to Sainsbury’s on High Street, Stanmore, at 16:44hrs on Saturday, 29 August to a report of two men attempting to shoplift seen with weapons.
“Officers attended, however the two suspects had fled the scene prior to arrival. A security guard received minor injuries and did not require medical treatment.
“There were no arrests; the investigation is ongoing.”
A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “An incident took place at our Stanmore store on Saturday. Thankfully nobody was hurt, and we are supporting the police with their investigation.”
