Croxley Camera Club is gearing up for its new season and is looking to boost membership in Rickmansworth. “Most of our members are from Croxley with just a handful from Ricky so we want to raise our profile in the area” said club spokesman Mike Loose. “Despite our name we are the Photographic Society for Three Rivers district and we know there are a lot of photographers in the Ricky so we are inviting them to come along and see what we do” he added. The Club is promising an exciting programme with the usual mix of competitions, talks and studio nights but with extra emphasis on workshop sessions showing budding photographers how to produce stunning photographs, even with the most basic of equipment and modest software. Lately the club has found that many of its competition winners are recent converts to photography and came into the hobby after experimenting with their smartphone or compact camera and wanting to learn more. “Photography is more accessible than ever before and people enjoy sharing their pictures on social media so it follows that they want to learn more about good composition and photo-editing software to make their photography stand out” says Club Chairman Richard Parmiter. also we are a friendly club so existing members are always on hand and happy to give advice to beginners.” The season starts on Thursday September 4th at 7.45 p.m. and prospective new members are invited to attend and find out if it’s for them. Meetings are held each Thursday from September to May at the Community Centre in Community Way which is behind New Road Library in Croxley Green (for satnavs use WD3 3SU). For more information call 07413 388 825 or email [email protected]croxleycameraclub.com. The club’s website is at www.croxleycameraclub.com.
