Council express disappointment in judicial review over Farm Terrace Allotments

The decision by an action group campaigning to save threatened allotments in Watford to launch an action for judicial review is disappointing according to Watford Borough Council. The council hit back after legal representatives for Save Farm Terrace officially started the judicial review process earlier this week. A spokesman said the council was disappointed in the light of three main grounds. He explained: “We are disappointed particularly in the light of the fact that 77 per cent of people who took part in the recent Health Campus public consultation are backing the proposals. “We have clearly demonstrated why the inclusion of the allotments is in the wider public interest namely:  the opportunity for new hospital facilities; much-needed affordable homes; 1600 new jobs; accessible green and open spaces and better transport links. The council and DCLG has rebutted all of the points made by the Farm Terrace Community Association in responses to their legal representative’s pre-action letter.”
