A construction company is nearly £2,000 out of pocket after residents complained about noise from the building site beyond the limit of 1pm on a Saturday in Pinner Road, Northwood. Hillingdon Borough Council took the action after one of its officers witnessed noise at the site. Noise is audible at the site boundary and only permitted between 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 1pm on Saturdays and at no time on Sundays or bank holidays. However, residents complained work was going on past the 1pm Saturday watershed. A notice was served on the contractor restricting its construction work to the stipulated days and times. However, the council received more complaints and an officer was dispatched to the site on Saturday, December 5, 2015, where further violations of the restriction were witnessed. The contractor was prosecuted for the breach after admitting its guilt at a hearing at Uxbridge Magistrates Court on May 17. The company was fined £1,000, with costs of £842 and a victim surcharge of £120. Councillor Douglas Mills, Cabinet Member for Community, Commerce and Regeneration said: “While many of us have to live with some noise around our homes there is no need for any of us to be subject to unlawful noise from builders or pubs. Hillingdon Council is firm on this and invites its residents to report any such nuisance noise.” If you have concerns about construction noise in Hillingdon you can report it online: www.hillingdon.gov.uk/article/17385/Construction-site-noise
