Following a consultation with stakeholders and community groups, eight expressions of interest have been received for Newberries Car Park.
As reported in the June edition of Radlett News, Hertsmere Borough Council (HBC) is considering private sector interest in the site.
At a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, July 9, HBC revealed that eight expressions of interest had been received. This includes two major national retailers, three residential developers, a mixed-use proposal, and a community use proposal. There was also one unconditional offer to buy the freehold.
Aldenham Parish Council has also offered to purchase the car park.
HBC is now considering four options: retain and continue to operate the car park; consider the redevelopment of the site but retain the existing parking spaces; sell to another public body; or sell the site’s air rights while keeping the car park as it is.
A further report will be brought to Cabinet after the responses have been fully considered.
