Professor Stephen Spiro, the former chair of the Board of Trustees for Rennie Grove Hospice Care, has received an OBE in His Majesty the King’s Birthday Honours List for his services to hospice care.
Professor Spiro oversaw huge development in his 10 years in the role, helping to fundraise income, increase volunteer numbers, and much more.
Stewart Marks, chief executive of Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care, said: “It’s wonderful to see Stephen’s work acknowledged in this way. Stephen has guided the organisation through periods of large expansion, as well as steering us through the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“He leads with care and compassion for all staff, volunteers and people who receive services and support from the charity, as well as a wealth of knowledge and experience from his clinical practice. Our colleagues and patients are all better off thanks to his leadership and we couldn’t be more delighted to see this recognised with this honour.”
